CEE Head

One of the oldest and most prestigious programs in the country, the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Georgia Tech has prepared students for careers in civil and environmental engineering for over 100 years. As one of the original degree programs offered by Georgia Tech in Southeast Georgia, CEE continues to balance a traditional engineering education with the latest in technological advances, educating a new generation of civil and environmental engineers prepared to meet the challenges of the future.  The Savannah program places a special emphasis on Engineering in the Coastal Environment, and includes a joint program in Coastal Science and Engineering offered with the Skidaway Institute of Oceanography, also located in Savannah.

Research and teaching activities within Georgia Tech Savannah's Civil and Environmental Engineering group are focused on infrastructure design, analysis and performance; material characterization and response; non-disruptive testing technologies and tools; and spatial data integration and analysis (particularly for transportation applications). Academic and research activities with particular local relevance are also emphasized, such as coastal processes and dynamics, environmental assessment and restoration, and historic preservation. A suite of both undergraduate and graduate courses have been developed by Savannah-based faculty to address these issues and augment offerings available from the Atlanta campus.
