Dr. Allen’s research is in the area of mechanical engineering design and design education. She is interested in methods with rigorous foundations in physics, mathematics, statistics and computer science. Sponsors for her research have included NSF, NASA, AFOSR, and ARL as well as several industrial partners, including most recently Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. She and her students have published more than 100 refereed journal articles and participated in numerous conferences. Dr. Allen is a fellow of the ASME, a senior member of the AIAA, and a member of ACS, ASEE, and ISSS. She is an honorary member of Pi Tau Sigma, the mechanical engineering honor society.
