Dr. Zhang’s research interests focus on systems level of interdisciplinary problems. She has extensive research experience and publications in multiple engineering disciplines. Her areas of interests include: MEMS synthesis and computer-aided design; wireless and inexpensive sensors for harsh environments; smart wireless sensing systems for public safety applications; intelligent systems; complex systems analysis, data mining and optimization. Dr. Zhang received IEEE Robotics & Automation Society Best Paper Award at the 2005 Symposium of Micro- and Nano-Mechatronics for Information-based Society (with Raffi Kamalian and Alice Agogino).
