Career Fairs and Introductions to Engineering
Where does science end and engineering begin? Where do technicians pick up and engineers leave off? In an ever expanding technological world, differences between careers in science, engineering and technology become more difficult to articulate. To assist students and teachers in understanding what engineering is and is not, MaST is pleased to provide speakers for career days and career fairs.

with colorful background and illustrated examples.
Speakers outline the differences and common grounds in science, engineering and technologically based careers, educational options within the University System of Georgia, and salary surveys from the Bureau of Labor Statistics with detailed analysis of local and national numbers. While this represents a large volume of data, the presenter assumes neither familiarity with nor appreciation for graphs and data analysis. Content is presented at age appropriate levels (grade school, middle school and high school), and meaning is conveyed through conversational narration and animations.
Because we would like to serve as many schools and students as possible, we must budget our time and resources. To this end we prefer career days in which students rotate from speaker to speaker for 20 minute sessions, and career days in which students sign up for presentations or areas of interest in advance. Presentations for high school math and science classes work very well, but we can not cover consecutive blocks of classes with long stretches in between. Some schools call optional assemblies for interested students. Other schools have two to three classes visit a single presentation room in a given class period.
