Coastal Kids' Robotics

Coastal Kids' Robotics supports teachers, parents, students and organizations learning to build and program LEGO robots, with the underlying goal of cultivating LEGO League teams (ages 9-14). Activities include coach, parent and team workshops, practice sessions, and an official FIRST LEGO League competition feeding to the state event.

To participate in the Coastal Kids' Competition, teams must Register with FIRST LEGO League by the deadline in late September.

Coaching A LEGO League Team

  • Ages 9-14
  • Up to 10 members per team
  • Teams may be class, school, home, church, troop, etc. based
  • With different coaches, teams have different meeting times. Some meet during class, others after school, and others on weekends at team members' houses
  • The team will need room for a 4'x8' playing field. Playing fields can be rolled up for storage between uses, or taped to plywood and stored on its side.
  • International Challenge released Sept 5
  • Teams must register by the end of Septembe

 

Team Workshops

To allow each LEGO League student to gain programming experience, GT Savannah is offering team workshops with 10 loaner robots. Sessions last a little over 2 hours, and may be held at host schools/homes or GA Tech Savannah. For schools/homes, teams will need one computer with software per team member.
