Coastal Kids' Competition - Saturday, December  5 at Woodville Tompkins

The Coastal Kids' Competition is an official FIRST LEGO League Qualifier.  Top teams will advance to Super-Regionals in Warner Robins.  To participate, teams must first Register with FIRST LEGO League by the deadline in late September, and then register for the Coastal Kids' Competition through Georgia's LEGO League website.

There is not cost to attend, so prospective teams, teachers, students, families and the generally curious are welcome!

 Date: Saturday, December 5, 2009

Schedule:

  9:00 Check In
9:30 Coaches' Meeting with Referees, Volunteer Orientation
10:00 Event Kickoff
  2:30 Presentation of Awards

Planning Ahead: You want your team to look like a team!  Wear your school colors, make team T-shirts, or wear matching hats, necklaces, etc.
Remember to bring: Lap top with the LEGO software
Power strip - each team will have 1 outlet
Extension cord  - your outlet may be under the next table, with walking space  between.
USB cable for your robot
Extra parts in case a motor goes bad or you change strategy
Batteries or charger
 The "Pit Area":

Teams will keep their things in their "pit area", which will be a folding table in a large room.  You will have access to one outlet, which may be one table away, so you will need to bring an extension cord and a power strip.

Organizers and volunteers cannnot patrol the pit area at all times.  Please clearly label your belongings and have a plan for keeping track of your equipment (robots, computers, spare parts).  I strongly suggest an adult watch the table   at all times.

Presenting the Project:

Teams have 5 minutes to present, and 2-3 minutes for question and answers. No additional time is alloted for set up and breakdown, so you should rehearse entering the room and presenting in five minutes or less.

Teams must bring their own presentation materials and equipment (computers and projectors are not provided, so most teams use posters, props and flip charts).  The room this year will have a screen, but a projector will not be provided.
