Workshops by Request

With the assistance of Georgia Tech Savannah student organizations, MaST is pleased to offer workshops by request. From sessions for after school and home school enrichment, to badge work for scouting troops, workshops are educational, engaging and memorable.

Workshop Descriptions

LEGO Robotics I

Grades4th - 8th
Cost$50/group
Group Size
Up to 20 students
Description

In our first LEGO workshop, students learn to write and transfer programs to the LEGO NXT robot and complete mini challenges in small teams.

For on site workshops MaST provides:

  • Computer equipped classroom with software
  • 9-10 pre-assembled robots
  • One instructor and one assistant
Supervision
While our students and staff enjoy working with students, we are not certified educators. Guest groups must have adult supervision at all times.
Off Site

$75/group

For off site workshops, host facilities will need to provide:

  • 10 Computers with LEGO Mindstorms software installed. The software is not free, and can not be installed by GA Tech.
  • Table or desk for instructor computer and projector
  • Screen or white wall for LCD projector
  • Directions to facility

LEGO Robotics II

Grades4th - 8th

Description

In our second LEGO workshop, students learn to calibrate sensors, program with sensors and trace lines.

For on site workshops MaST provides:

  • Computer equipped classroom with software
  • 9-10 pre-assembled robots
  • Blue painters’ tape
  • One instructor and one assistant

While our students and staff enjoy working with students, we are not certified educators. Guest groups must have adult supervision at all times.
Off Site

$75/group

For off site workshops, host facilities will need to provide:

  • 10 Computers with LEGO Mindstorms software installed. The software is not free, and can not be installed by GA Tech.

Scratch – Storytelling and Computer Animation

Grades4th - 8th
Cost$25/group
Description
In the Scratch workshop, students create original computer animations while learning computer programming concepts. Scratch software is free and available online, so students with computer access and adult supervision can continue creating Scratch stories and movies well beyond the workshop.

Storytelling Alice – Coming Soon

Grades6th - 8th

Description
In the Storytelling Alice workshop, students create original computer animations while learning computer programming concepts. Storytelling Alice is designed for middle school students. It is free and available online, so students with computer access and adult supervision can continue using Alice at home or at school.
