Beginning Spring 2007, the Georgia Tech Atlanta library will be adding a second day to our weekly delivery schedule. The expense in shipping these books is absorbed by GT Savannah. All books checked out from the library will be shipped Tuesday and Thursday. Jessica York e-mails students when their books arrive as they will not fit in the student mailboxes.

Once a student receives the book they in turn take responsibility for that book. If the book is stamped with a "Georgia Tech Library" stamp it is part of the State of Georgia University Library System. Those books can be returned to Armstrong Atlantic State University, Savannah State University, and Georgia Southern University. Anyone from the public sector can visit these libraries or the library drop boxes on these respective campuses. These campuses will accept only "Georgia Tech Library" books at these locations. The librarians on staff will scan the bar code and check your book in thereby reducing the concern that your book will be a late return.

GT Savannah does not have the capability of scanning your book into the Georgia Tech Library system, due to not having a librarian on staff. Please make every effort to return your Georgia Tech library books to the local public universities as this will ensure that you know your library account has been cleared.

Georgia Tech Savannah will handle the returns of interlibrary loaned books to the Georgia Tech Library. Interlibrary loans from other institutions will have a page attached to the library book with a stamp on the library book with the designated school it was borrowed from. Interlibrary loan books have to be returned directly to the GT main campus library. If you are heading to Atlanta you can turn the book in or give it to Pat Potter or Jessica York at the GT Savannah campus and we will organize the return of those books back to Atlanta.

Once the books leave our campus and arrive on the Atlanta campus we at that point cannot trace the route the book takes.

If you do not drive we will work out arrangements with GT Savannah faculty who teach at one of the partner locations or faculty that are travelling to Atlanta to drop off the returned library books.

Books or journals that are checked out of our local GT Savannah library are not part of this University of Georgia Library System so those will still need to be returned to the front reception area.

The Georgia Tech Main campus library has shown a lot of flexibility with allowing books to shipped to the distance students, but it your responsibility to track your due dates, return your Georgia Tech library books, and communicate to the library if you think you will have a late return.
