Abstract

After giving an introduction to systematic conceptual design, a function-based systematic approach to the integrated design of product and material concepts is presented. Since exploration of the integrated product and material concepts generated is typically characterized by a complex network of decisions and analysis models, systematic approaches to manage complexity and to design embodiment design-processes for concept exploration are presented. Focus will be in everyday examples to stimulate discussion and exemplify how you could use design methods to your advantage, in your studies, or for your research.
