Abstract

The coastal nearshore region is a dynamic area consisting of many processes such as waves, currents and sediment transport. Studying nearshore hydrodynamics is a complicated task due to the many scales involved as well as the interactions between all the different processes. Therefore, a successful research program will involve many different approaches for analyzing nearshore processes. This seminar will present different approaches using field measurements, laboratory measurements and numerical modeling. Some of the features studied include rip currents, longshore currents, wind waves, beach morphology and ship wake.
