Postdoctoral Position in Optoelectronic Device Modeling Available

Dr. Ben Klein and Dr. Doug Yoder of the Computational Electronics Group at the Georgia Institute of Technology are seeking a well-qualified person holding a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Physics for a postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will have a strong background in scientific numerical simulation programming and semiconductor physics. The position will involve planning, coding, testing, and documenting a one-dimensional simulation of the active region of an InGaN-based quantum well laser diode. It is anticipated that this code will include drift-diffusion and thermionic emission carrier transport models, as well as carrier-carrier and carrier-phonon capture models for the quantum well. Significant numerical convergence issues associated with the strong polarization fields in the nitride material system are likely, so relevant experience is a plus.

The salary for this position will be competitive, and is expected to range between $50,000 and $60,000 per year, depending on the qualifications of the candidate. The position start date is in April 2008 or earlier, and will last for 12-15 months, with extensions possible based on funding. International candidates will be considered. The position will be based at the Savannah campus of Georgia Tech, but special arrangements (e.g., remote office) are possible for exceptional candidates. For more information, please contact Dr. Benjamin Klein (bklein@gatech.edu).
