What supplies do I
need for my Georgia Tech lab course? |
Here is a list of required lab supplies. Students can purchase most lab supplies and textbooks for GT classes through the GT bookstore. Note that the GT bookstore does not allow parts kits, protoboards, some lab manuals, etc., to be returned – read the fine print carefully. Students should make sure to have lab supplies ready BEFORE THE FIRST WEEK OF THE SEMESTER. Some lab courses start labs BEFORE A FIRST LECTURE is held or EVEN THE SAME DAY AS THE FIRST LECTURE. Check with your instructor early. Most courses sell materials through the GT Bookstore but some courses sell lab manuals through the GT Engineer’s Bookstore – which offers shipping. ORDER EARLY TO ALLOW TIME FOR SHIPPING! If in doubt – contact your instructor at least one week before the semester begins. |

When is the lab
open? Where do I find lab schedules? |
Individual room schedules can be found for most labs by clicking on the room number, course number, or lab name on the instructional labs home page. Here is the overall labs schedule. |
|
How do I get a key
to a lab or workshop? |
Lab access. Access to labs is granted for select courses and assignments. Please follow key and access policies. |

Where can I get
some work done? Where can I print? |
On the GT Savannah campus PARB 134 is a general computer lab with a printer and digital sender that is open to all students 24/7 with BUZZ CARD access to the building. Each GTREP room at a partner institution is equipped with PCs, printers, and digital senders – those rooms are listed on the lab home page. There are other rooms at the GTS campus for general computing and group study listed here: GTS Computing Guide. |

Do I have to bring
my own paper to print in a lab? |
During a scheduled lab period (when an instructor is present) the instructor will provide paper for the students to print work related to that lab. During non-scheduled lab times (an instructor is not present) the student must provide their own paper for printing. Note it is expected that printing taking place in a lab should still be for work related to the students lab course. To print in one of the open labs (DERC or one of the partner GTREP lab rooms) students must also provide their own paper. Paper is available for sale in the GT Savannah Buzz Store and all partner bookstores. Please do not ask any GT staff member for printer paper. It is often pointed out that in many cases GT Atlanta students are not required to provide their own paper for printing in their labs. This is true in many

I have a special
staff project that could use the help of some student assistants. Where do I
find them? Do I have to ask someone’s permission for their help? |
Check the student assistant schedules for undergraduate and graduate student assistants to see when they are around. Student assistants have specific assignments and duties but are considered available to help any staff member if a special project need arises. So, just find one that is available and feel free to ask for their help. |
