DETER CRIME

Although we are all one big happy GT family it is still a bad idea to leave your laptops, backpacks and bags of gold bullion lying about unsupervised.

Crime Prevention Advice

1.      Only enter spaces for which you have been given permission.

2.      Close the door.

3.      Do not prop open laboratory, workshop, or studio doors at any time.

4.      Immediately report missing equipment, keys, or buzz cards.

SAFELY HANDLE CHEMICALS

Some engineering courses make use of hazardous chemicals. Students taking

CEE 4200

ME 4053

should read the MSDS, ICSC, NIOSH, or OSHA documents related to their specific chemical risk:

International Chemical Safety Cards

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Guide to Chemical Hazards

Georgia Tech Savannah Instructional Laboratories Chemical Inventory

Each laboratory with hazardous substances should have a Red Safety and MSDS Notebook. Review the contents of the notebook before beginning work.

FOLLOW BEST PRACTICES AND LAB RULES

  • Food and drink are not allowed in any instructional laboratory, workshop, studio, storage, or preparation space at any time. Eating areas are conveniently located in the public areas near all GTS labs.
  • Students must be prepared at any time to demonstrate permission to be in a laboratory, workshop, storage, or preparation space without an instructor by producing the key issued to the student by GTS facilities. Please read important key and access policies.
